RZ-11200

Imbotec CTM "Concrete Texture Meter" Roughness meter

Overview of Concrete Texture Meter - Profilometer Model RZ-11200:

This handheld portable Roughness tester, profilometer, gauge, checker, model RZ-11200 measures the surface finish roughness of the Polished Concrete Surface. Since Polished Concrete is not a homogeneous smooth surface, many readings should be taken and averaged. The Imbotec MIZA Concrete Texture Meter does include an easy method to average all your readings for the Polished Concrete Surface. The RZ-11200 CTM has many bells and whistles but for Polished Concrete, only one standard set of measurement characteristics should be used. We will concentrate on discussing only these. Thus if you decide to compare this unit to others made for the metal industry, don't be surprised if others show many other features or specifications that we do not discuss. The Concrete Texture Meter may have all the specs and more but as said, we will concentrate only on Polished Concrete.

Some Important definitions related to Roughness:

Ris the arithmetic average of the absolute values of the roughness profile ordinates.

Real surface separates a body from the surrounding medium. (DIN EN ISO 4287)
The Stylusenables two-dimensional tracing of a surface. The stylus is traversed normal to the surface at constant speed. (DIN EN ISO 3274). The Traced Profile is the enveloping profile of the real surface acquired by means of a stylus. Parameters usually are defined over the sampling length. An average parameter estimate is calculated by taking the arithmetic mean of the parameter estimates from all the individual sampling lengths. For roughness profile parameters the standard number of sampling lengths is five.

Traversing length is the overall length traveled by the stylus when acquiring the traced profile. It is the sum of the pre-travel, evaluation length plus the post-travel. Cutoff of a profile filter determines which wavelengths belong to roughness and which ones to waviness. Sampling length is the reference for roughness evaluation. Its length is equal to the cutoff wavelength. Evaluation length is that part of the traversing length over which the values of surface parameters are determined. The standard roughness evaluation length comprises five consecutive sampling lengths.
Pre-travel is the first part of the traversing length. Post-travel is the last part of the traversing length.

Selection of cutoff: (according to DIN EN ISO 4287, ASME B46.1)
