Normally a coating is applied to the Black Test Panel at your specified film thickness. After the coating is dried, it is subsequently tested in a Washability Scrub Tester to determine the coating resistance to Abrasion. These panels are value-priced to make our Washability Tester even more Cost-Effective since they are a throwaway item after use.

Five International Standards can use these panels to test coatings, namely ASTM D2486, ASTM D3450, ISO 11998, DIN 53778-2.
When following the ASTM D2486 Method A, a 10mil shim would be inserted under the panel to accelerate coating scrub failure and thereby reduce the required testing time. When using a Washability Scrub Tester, the resistance to Coating Failure is the number of scrub cycles required to remove a sufficient amount of coating as determined to cause failure or damage.
Imbotec has Four Washability Scrub Testers to meet your requirements for one standard and conversion kits to all the other standards. You need one machine and three conversion kits to perform all the four tests above.
