General Information 

CONCRETE Moisture Content or “MC” is the amount of water weight in concrete, compared to the amount of dry product. CONCRETE Relative Humidity is another method used to analyze the amount of water vapour in Concrete. Either “Moisture Percentage Moisture Meters (CMEX2)” or “Concrete Relative Humidity Moisture Meters” will provide information on how dry the concrete is. Moisture Meters with Relative Humidity Sensors are invasive and leave holes in concrete. Determining the RH of concrete or Relative Humidity of concrete takes more work but is more accurate. RH sensors are placed into the concrete for 72 hours and are then read. On the other hand Non-invasive Moisture Meters leave no holes at all and are quick and easy to measure large areas of concrete. 

Before a flooring installer can install floors, the moisture in concrete floors have a certain moisture content.  A concrete moisture meter is able to measure the moisture content in concrete.  As people may know of course their is going to be moisture in concrete because its close to the ground but regular checking of moisture content during the drying out period of a new concrete floor or floor screed is important to ensure it has reached sufficient dryness to accept the floor covering.

If a certain moisture content is not reached problems can occur such as condensation or the failure of adhesive under the floor covering.  A concrete moisture meter will ensure you have a properly dried floor to minimize moisture problems for a smooth and easy floor installation.
